Gear Up for Manufacturing Day

This year marks the third annual Manufacturing Day event, which is slated for Friday, October 3.

Large or small, if you're involved in manufacturing you should be thinking now about what you can do to participate in or contribute to the success of manufacturing.

If you're an educator, you should consider ways to do the same. Invite a manufacturer into your classroom to speak with students or arrange for a field trip.

I write regularly about manufacturing, education and related topics. As you gear up for Manufacturing Day, you might find these articles relevant:

Meanwhile, here's what the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has to say:
Manufacturing Day addresses common misperceptions by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is - and what it isn't. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.
I would change that last sentence to read: "... and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry country."

It's a small change, but it makes a big difference, doesn't it?
